Reviews
Unlike other London experiences, this isn’t contrived themed night out with tube themed cocktail names, and character waiters, etc. it’s simply a dining course experience hosted in a repurposed Victoria line train. It’s very instagrammable but once you’ve got the photos out the way, everyone seemed switched off and enjoyed the dining experience. You can opt for a supper club style sharing table or you own private table for 2. We opted for the latter. Aside from the food, there is no glitz or glamour, the toilets are in cabins and given the freezing January temperatures, you need to brave the elements. The food was excellent and even had things I didn’t think I would like but ended up enjoying. Obviously it’s a rotating guest chef / menu but the 6 course Latin / Colombian theme is what we had and we would recommend having. The service was also really good and staff were engaging. They get people want photos and do that at the start so people can then enjoy the food experience. It took a while to be served (mainly because some guests were late) but once food started coming it wasn’t long waits between courses. If you are thinking of coming, be prepared that it isn’t near Walthamstow Central underground station and Walthamstow is surprisingly quite spread out. The nearest station is St James and even that’s a walk away. We live relatively locally and we had to get a cab. I am not aware of any local pub or bar immediately closeby for you to make a whole evening of coming to Stow but to bastardise Michelin, it’s certainly “worth a detour” to check out this supper club
All 6 courses were excellent, full of Latin-American flavours and we left the dinner suitably full. They even brought a special cake and sang happy birthday to the 3 people who were celebrating. The ambience in the tube carriage was lovely, if you’re dining as pair I’d recommend paying a little extra for the private two seaters. Overall a great evening out, especially for a special occasion or for history buffs. I will be back for their winter menu!
Fantastic experience of a Latin American tasting dinner. The ambience was fab, great atmosphere, we were introduced to chef and she explained the story behind her menu. Every taste was delicious, delicate and flavoursome. We loved it . The only slight thing is the toilets are a bit grot but I didn't use them so I didn't care! Again, the food was amazing
Great experience, we thoroughly enjoyed. You are dining inside an old Victoria line tube carriage, with a South American inspired tasting menu. I was glad the food was actually good and not gimmicky based on the setting. The chef comes out to explain the food concept for the evening, and there’s further notes for each course which is nice. The food was really nice, we enjoyed all the courses. The seating is either on the big sharing table, or your own table for 2/3 people. The 2/3 person tables are first come first served, most of these are on actual old tube seats, but there’s a couple are just normal tables in the door area. The service is okay, they are friendly but it’s hard to catch them to order more drinks etc as often they are all busy serving everyone’s food. We actually ended up paying for an extra drink which never arrived due to this patchy drinks service (forgot to double check the bill until we got home). Would be good to have one person dedicated on taking peoples drinks orders and serving them as this felt a bit chaotic. The location is quite far if you’re not local. It’s a 20 minute walk from the closest tube stations, and there’s not much around to do.
Amazing decor in a old Victoria line tube but honestly, this becomes an afterthought with how amazing the food is; some of the best I’ve had in London!
